How to Fix a Wet Wii

The Problem

My house flooded and my Nintendo Wii was under water - can it be saved?

The Fix

Summary: Yes it can!  When my house flooded (while I was on vacation) my Wii was underwater for about a week.  Some friends of mine (who I am very grateful for) spent a few hours in the early morning cleaning up.  They were able to rescue my Wii, and unless I told you, you would never know that it had been in the water for a week.  Here is what they did:

  1. UNPLUG IT
  2. Detach all cords, sensor bar, etc.  Remove all memory cards etc  (If there is a disc inside the Wii do NOT turn it on to remove it)
  3. Let it sit in a dry area (ie, not in the basement) for a week.
  4. During that week, rotate it a few times each day, just in case there is water pooled in one of the cracks or crevices.

That's it!  Try turning it on!
